I tried different XSL files but can't get a good result.

the link is http://buitenzorg.scouting.nl/frontend/syndication/news.php

If i use the default RSS91.xsl i get all the text and links on screen but in plaint text without any format.
Some other XSL files don't show anything.

The scouting site claims to use the correct format but why can't i get it correct?

Did you ever resolve this issue? I looked at the format and it is RSS 1.0 and not RSS 2.0 which are slightly different. Here is an RSS 2.0 feed and if you look, you will see the slight differences in the format.

I myself don't have any problem using an XSL to format the above on one of my sites at:

http://www.onlinetradingsecretsrevealed.com/

But I am trying to get xsl to work on an RSS 1.0 feed from National Geographic and I cannot get it for nothing.

If anyone could just provide a simple xsl, it would be greatly appreciated. I have tried a variety of approaches, but could not get anything to work.

No i didn't i also mailed the webmaster who put the scouting rss together but nothing so far.

But if i read this right DNN doesn't have support for RSS 1.0? or is it the XSL.
I'm new to RSS and XSL if i see the XSL i can read what it does, but create or modify one is a bit different.

But i'm still hoping for a solution.

I got it working on mine. I will try out my xsl on your newsfeed and if I can get it to work I will let you know shortly.

You can get an xsl here and save it to your site. I tried it against the feed you provided and it worked. It is currently only a Title link and description with some line breaks to separate the items. I have it limited to the top 10. You can change th position reference to in the file if you want more or less. Also, I am using class = normal on my table for formatting. You can change that and also change the width if you want it in a smaller area.

http://www.theforerunnernetwork.com/portals/0/XSL_RSS1_Top_10.xsl

The main differences I found were that you have to reference additional namespaces and specifically add in the one called rss:  (you can call this whatever you want, but you then have to use whatever you call it later in the file like rss:title.

Also, the Items are not in theChannel on RSS1, so you don't have to to .../channel/item to get to the items. Just go straight to the Items. The Channel can be accessed if needed just like item, but instead of having items as a subnode to channel, they are on the same level as channel.

I have read that the escaping for HTML may not work well on Firefox. Maybe you can check that out and let me know what you think.

Hope this helps. I personally found the answer on groups.google.com.
