After compilation, installation and configuration, I have been getting an error on line 895, char 1, Syntax Error in Default.aspx.  I get this error whenever a module is placed on a page.  When I delete all of the modules on the page, the syntax error disappears.  I tried changing the default skin to one that is included and still receive this error.  Has anyone else run into this problem?

I'm getting the same error. I did a clean install of the Starter Kit, did "File --> New Web Site" in Visual Studio, selected the DotNetNuke template, at this point I do get two errors while the template creates the project:

1) file ftb.createlink.aspx.resx could not be found within the project templates

2) file ftb.insertsmiley.aspx.resx could not be found within the project templates

I click OK on these errors and the template creates the project.  It builds without errors, runs ok (does the initial DNN install ok).  Then when the portal page loads IE reports a "Syntax Error" on line 895 and the page only loads half way (images are cut off etc).  I have repeated this sequence several times, reloaded the starter kit etc....same results.

I am getting the exact same error.....submitted a post on the Install forum but it hasn't been moderated yet. Did you by chance have a previous version of the starter kit installed before installing your latest version?

Thanks,

Chris

I have quite similar problems and have post a question about this 29 December, but none have had any answer so far.
I guess there are problems within the new 4.4.0 Starter Kit, as I have tried several ways to overcome these problems, with different new problems aricing.
It’s strange that no one in the core team has comment this.

Yes, I did have the previous versions starter kit installed (4.3.7 I think).  I tried deleting the zip files in the Visusal Studio template areas during a reinstall of the 4.4 starter kit but still the same result.  If anyone has a list files that need to be deleted to completly remove a starter kit I can try that and then reinstall the 4.4 kit.
