Hi,

I've just installed the new 4.4.0 release and unfortunately a new error has risen.

When I try to download files uploaded in Documents module I get this error message "Server cannot append header after HTTP headers have been sent." and this is the stack strace:

[HttpException (0x80004005): Server cannot append header after HTTP headers have been sent.]
   System.Web.HttpResponse.AppendHeader(String name, String value) +3209278
   DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Compression.CompressingFilter.WriteHeaders() +42
   DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Compression.GZipFilter.Write(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 count) +18
   DotNetNuke.HttpModules.Compression.WhitespaceFilter.Write(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 count) +175
   System.Web.HttpWriter.Filter(Boolean finalFiltering) +251
   System.Web.HttpResponse.Flush(Boolean finalFlush) +972
   System.Web.HttpResponse.Flush() +17
   DotNetNuke.Common.Utilities.FileSystemUtils.DownloadFile(Int32 PortalId, Int32 FileId, Boolean ClientCache, Boolean ForceDownload) +863
   DotNetNuke.Services.FileSystem.FileServerHandler.ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) +1093
   System.Web.CallHandlerExecutionStep.System.Web.HttpApplication.IExecutionStep.Execute() +154
   System.Web.HttpApplication.ExecuteStep(IExecutionStep step, Boolean& completedSynchronously) +64

Thanks for any suggestion

Hi Nicola,

I suggest you post this in "Lets chat about it", it looks like an issue in the core with the new compression feature.

PS:  You could also try turning off compression & see if that fixes it.

I have the same problem (DNN4.4.0). How do you turn off compression?

I **MAY** have found a work-around. It appears that if I change the Performance settings in the Host Settings like this:
Page State Persistence: Page
Module Caching Method: Disk
Performance Setting: Moderate
Authenticated Cacheability: NoCache
Compression Setting: No Compression
Compression Level (Deflate): None
Use Whitespace Filter: (NOT checked)

No other combinations appear to work.

The majority of the files will will work from the links module. For some document links in the links module, I have to go back in and reset them. No other combinations appear to work.

Still testing.
