Last year I installed Gallery 3.0.10 Beta on my DNN 3.1.1. I had a lot of problems with the gallery, e.g.

  • More than 20 Thumbnails a page not possible
  • sorting by name did only work sometimes
  • adding an album destroyed the previews
  • Maintaince / Sync destroyed all entrys

I was lucky when DNN 4.0 was announced, with a new gallery module I hoped.

But after Upgrade to 4.0.2 I got the same error : Unable to cast object of type 'ASP.default_aspx' to type 'DotNetNuke.Modules.Gallery.Container'.

When there will be a gallery module for DNN 4.0.x available ?

When the gallery will be a core modul of DNN, when it will be part of the dnn installation ?

A gallery should be a standard module for a portal, almost everybody needs one.

The mdoule is a core module.  It is available for download from this site.  As from when it will be part of installation, the recent trend has been to remove modules from the core distribution to allow people to download only what they need.

I've seen an interesting photo gallery is part of Personal Web Site Starter Kit. Has anyone tried to get a module out of it?

I just added my own Gallery to my DNN-Portal. It's not very pretty, but it is working.
It can handle up to 1000 photos per album and 100 photos per page. It has Slideshow and Greeting-Card.
Maybe I will integrate it in DNN.

I just want a basic working version of image gallery that enables me to upload and display photo but 1st thing when i add the module in the page, i get the Unable to cast object of type 'ASP.default_aspx' to type 'DotNetNuke.Modules.Gallery.Container' error. this is pathetic.
