I just installed 4.4.0 (install kit) on webhost4life, in folder off of root, all permissions are set.

The installer completed without error and the site works - except that all of the images on the site show as broken.

IUSR/everyone/network service all have read permissions to all the files in the folder.

I'm out of ideas... thanks.

did you check whether the folders the images are in have read permissions set to unregistered users?

I am talking about the DNN permissions settings in the DNN Filemanager (Admin > FileManager)

Just checked that, yes All Users has view permissions on the portal directory (where the sponsor images are put).  I changed that to allow unauthorized users view permissions and that didn't change anything.

I should mention that this same site has a dnn3.x and a Rainbow portal site running on it (in different directories) so I've had some experience with getting dnn to work. 

yes, the .net version is set to 2.0 - the site functions, just the icons/images in images/ and admin/controlpanel/images do not display.  The paths are correct.  When I open up the gif file directly, IE reports "Cannot find server or DNS Error" - but it appears to timeout on the file.

Turns out Webhost4life had to change some mapping for image files to make this work.  Not 'exactly' sure what they did but that's what they said.
