I am running Visual Studio 2005 and originally installed an earlier version of the starter kit. I think it was 4.0.3. I then created a test DNN site using the templates from this earlier version and all worked as expected.

Because I had installed the earlier version of the starter kit by mistake, I deleted the test web site, deleted the DNN templates from the template folder, and installed the new 4.4 version of the starter kit. I then created a new test site using the new starter kit template.

I noticed that the new web site already had a database and a web.config file. Although I thought this was strange, I deleted the database and the web.config file, created a new database and renamed the release.config file to web.config.

Now I am having all kinds of problems with the modules and other parts of the web site. For example, I cannot expand a links module. I can edit the content of an HTML module but cannot expand its content. Also many of the help tips do not work.

Any idea what I have done and how to fix it? Thanks.

I was able to resolve my problem by installing the 4.3.7 starter kit, create a new site and then apply the 4.4 upgrade to the site. Is there any reason why I should not be able to use the 4.4 starter kit directly? Thanks...
