We are taking over hosting a site for a customer and have moved the site over to our servers. We have the admin password and another at lower level permissions. However, we don't have access to the host menu with either of these passwords so we can upload modules or do any other critical backend projects.

The previous company conveniently can not find the superuser password. Is there any way to retrieve it if we have access to the files themselves (in a log file or something)?
