Hi everyone.  Sorry I have been MIA over the last few months.  I'm not making excuses...but I hope to rapidly get this thing back on track!

To this end, we want to fix what's broken ASAP!  No major improvements yet...sorry.  We need to get a solid usable product out!

Please send me any code fixes for issues.  Send them to a.vance@charter.net.

Also, indicate if you are interested in becomming a fulltime member of the team.  Along with this indicate:
- Your expertise/skill level
- Time commitment you are willing to make
- Contact Info

Thanks and again sorry for the confusion!

I have had to perform some SQL hacks to overcome the timezone issues in the latest version of Events. I have it all working with the exception of the Event Begin and End times written to the Outlook export .vcs file.

The issue is that although the timezone is accurately displayed in the Event Calendar and Details pages, the Outlook times are off by one hour (early). Additionally, the description includes all HTML tags when an HTML description is provided. If you use plain text for the description, line breaks are visually represented as follows:

SolidWorks Luncheon, PDMWorks / File Management Discussionbr /br /Topics to be covered:br /br /File Management, how SW finds and opens documentsbr /br /How to manage files locallybr /br /Working with PDMWorks, Open / Check-out / Check-inbr /br /Using a working copy version scheme, when and why br /br /Renaming documents, locally and in PDMWorksbr /br /br /Location: WE-4 Conference Roombr /br /Time: 11:45 – 1:00br /br /Lunch will be providedbr /

Both of these issues are very confusing for Users, and leads to wasted support time.

Thanks for all of you efforts on this module - glad you're back for Round 2

Eric

Hi Eric.  Thanks for the description of the issue.  BTW, what version of events are you using?  Can you please send me any fixes you have implemented to solve the problems?  I will incorporate them into the new version.   Send them to a.vance@charter.net.  Thanks again!

Hey Alan!

I am using Events 03.02.00 on DNN 3.3.7.

The biggest issue has been the TimeZone problem. I created an INSERT trigger on the Users table to "fix" the new users TimeZone to match the Portal. The odd thing is that I had to set the Portal TimeZone to Central Time (we are in Boulder, CO Mountain Time), and then apply the trigger to get the TZ adjustment to display correctly on the Calendar and Event Start Time.

Trigger:

Insert Into UserProfile (UserID, PropertyDefinitionID, PropertyValue, Visibility, LastUpdatedDate) values (@NewID, 37, '-360', 0, GetDate())

While this fixes the Event Time, it then shows one hour off in the Outlook .vcs file. Hopefully this helps!

Eric
