I agree, if I go to the main site I am automatically added, then if I navigate to one of the portals, I am not logged in or added.  Then if I remove myself from the main site, clear cookies and such then go directly to the portal then I get logged in and added.  If I then go to any of the other portals or back to the main site I am not logged in or added.  In fact I often get stuck in what seems an infinite loop if I try any other portal.

For my implementation I don't need seperate authentication settings or seperate user profiles for each portal. That just seems like it is overly complex and leading to big problems

I get something very weird.  After I installed the ActiveDirectory authentication, I go to Admin -> Settings and get an error saying /Admin/Security/AuthenticationSettings.ascx does not exist.  I looked in the DNN 4.7 and 4.6 install zip file, and that file doesn't even exist in the installation!  I had to go back to the DNN 3.3.7 installation file to find that file.  After manually copying that file into my DNN 4.7 installation, I then get an error:

DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Could not load type 'DotNetNuke.Modules.Authentication.AuthenticationSettings'.

Why would the authentication settings page be missing?  How can I add it back?

Kevin, it sounds like something didn't go right in your upgrade from DNN 3.3.7. Did you get any errors when you did the upgrade? Did you upgrade straight from 3.3.7 to 4.6/4.7?

I don't remember if I had any errors during the upgrade, I did the upgrade a while ago.  However, I think it's still strange that even if there was a problem, that in the actual DNN install zip file, I can't just find the files I need and manually copy it over.  Is it that the 4.x versions of the installations don't have the files I need because it's assumed to be there from the previous version?

I find it strange that the AuthenticationSettings.ascx file was missing from the 4.7 full version as well as the 4.7 upgrade version.

The aren't there because they were moved for DNN 4.6 (when the login providers were separated) to Adim/Authentication. It sounds like you've got a mix of old .dlls and new .dlls which is why I asked if there were any errors. The old .dll files should have been removed on the upgrade.
