DotNetNuke 4.4.0

I am new to creating portal templates; maybe I am missing something obvious? I welcome any suggestions about what might be causing this error:

I access Host > Portals > Export Portal Template and I create a Portal Template file that the system reports was created successfully. I then attempt to create a new Child portal using the "Client Template" portal template file I created, and I get this error (and the portal is NOT created):

Client Template.template is not a valid Portal Template File.

Validation Results

The element 'settings' has invalid child element 'email'. List of possible elements expected: 'defaultlanguage, skinsrc, skinsrcadmin, expirydate, backgroundfile, currency, hostspace, hostfee, paymentprocessor, containersrcadmin, siteloghistory, containersrc, timezoneoffset'.

If a problem can be solved, there's no use worrying about it.
If it can't be solved, worrying will do no good.

I found this works to rid the error. You need access to the file system where DotNetNuke is installed. In this example, the portal template that is getting the error is named "My Portal Template".

Inside the folder [dotnetnuke installation path]\Portals\_default - using Notepad, open the TEMPLATE file you created (mine is named "My Portal Template.template"). This is an XML file that you can edit directly using Notepad or some other text editor.

Up near the top of the file, inside the <Settings> <\Settings> tags, locate the <email> element and delete the whole line. Save and exit the file.

When next you select the your template file ("My Portal Template") to create a portal, the error should be gone and the portal should be created OK.

If a problem can be solved, there's no use worrying about it.
If it can't be solved, worrying will do no good.

I had exactly the same problem. Used Plattform DNN 4.4.0  ... look as this is a bug of the new DNN.
