I want to do some very basic ammendments to the documents and announcements modules, I just need to be able to edit the code behind files for the view pages. This is sooooooooooo hard, I have the source for the latest document module and I have the install for v4.4.0, I have removed the standard install for the documents module and installed the source version, I can see the codebehind files in the solution but when I change them it makes no difference, whats going on. I can create a module from scratch no problem. I am trying to develop the source in .Net 2.0 vs2005 with sqlexpress but it sounds like this can't be done for the documents module because its an old version for 1.1. So i downloaded the 3.7.7 install got that up and running but can't figure out how to get the module source in and start playing with it. Also if I do get it up and running in 3.7.7 can I then package the module and install it in 4.7.7?

This is all getting a bit hard but I know there is a load of functionality just waiting to be tapped into.

modules created in dnn 3 / asp.net 1.1 cannot be developed in dnn without being converted. Also, yuo cannot develop asp.net 1.1. solutions with vs2005, you need vs2003 for that.

You might try converting the module to dnn 4, i had very little trouble converting the announcements module to dnn 4 (no you will not get it, i used it to start testing with dnn 4.. ). Look for the module upgrade wizard in the downloads page (you can use the one that comes with dnn 4.3.7)

blimey that was a quick reply, thanks very much.

The module upgrade has no extension in the downloads section, i guess its meant to be a zip? Many thanks.

ok sorry to bug you again but I now have the 4.3.7 Install setup and the 3.3.7 source setup and built I have then extracted the document module source and added it to the 3.3.7 source solution but it won't build. I have read up quite a bit about building modules in v4 but not v3 are there any good tutorial around? Or even just a step by step guide on how to upgrade the module.
