Call me crazy but when I read:

"Source Package  -  Contains everything, including full application source code"

I actually feel that the FULL source code should be included when you download that package!

Can someone explain why this is not the case with DNN itself, and by the looks of it some/all of the modules.  Specifically I'm looking for codebehind files for the ascx controls to be included as well.

Thanks.

I agree, that the description needs to be updated, but there are requirements forcing the current structure:

DNN 4.3.x/4.4.x:

  • when you unzip the source package, two main sub folders will be generated:
    • library contains the source files of core framework, that needs to be compiled
    • website contains all runtime files
  • Source of Survey and Reports modules is included and unpacked, when the modules get installed
  • all other modules are currently DNN3 modules, created with VS2003 and ASP.Net 1.1 and source cannot be distributed with DNN 4

DNN 3.3.x:

  • module source has been removed for consitency with DNN4 (to reduce packaging efforts needed and to prevent version conflicts) please download module sources from the projects' download pages

Your exact response should simply copied & pasted onto the downloads page.

I wonder, why hasn't anyone migrated the modules to v4 yet?  I wonder if there is there a FAQ on this...

Thanks!

Migrating the modules is task of the projects maintaing them. It will happen for sure during the next months, Survey is only the first one converted. Please note, that DNN3 modules can used without issues in DNN4, but not vv. If you have a specific need, you can convert them using the migration wizard available at the main download page here on dotnetnuke.com

The source packages on each project's download pages also contains no source; of course.  So I see no way of recompling it for 4x.  What am I missing?
