I would like to have 2 parent portals run off the same DNN installation on GoDaddy but to use different user registrations. Seems like this is a feature of DNN but I can't make it work yet.

What I have done so far is the following:

1. Installed DNN in a subdir called DNN on my GoDaddy root directory and did SETROOT permissions on the DNN directory.

2. Then I forwarded "http://MyFirstDNNDomain.com" to "http://MyHostingDomain.com/DNN" and I can get to my website http://MyFirstDNNDomain.com just fine.

What I also want to do is forward another URL called "MyOtherDNNDomain.com" to the same DNN installation as a completely separate parent portal with it's own set of users and web pages etc.

How do I do that? If I try to add another portal when logging into the existing DNN installation while logged on as the super user called host I get the following error message:

"Violation of UNIQUE KEY constraint 'IX_dnn_PortalAlias'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object
'dnn_PortalAlias'. The statement has been terminated."

Sounds like I cannot have 2 domains forwarded to the same DNN subdir and have them both aliased to that subdir.

So how can I have 2 parent portals forwarded to and run off the same DNN installation?

Thanks much,

Dave

Not sure if this is progress but now have my 2 domains forwarded to my hosting account DNN subdir and when I enter the 2nd URL I actually get the same logged on session as the first domain URL. THis is certainly not w2hat I want and further seems like a security issue in DNN.

Domain "MyFirstDNNDomain.com" is forwarded to "MyHostingDomain.com/DNN" with DNN alias MyFirstDNNDomain.com and works fine.

Domain "MyOtherDNNDomain.com" is also forwarded to "MyHostingDomain.com/DNN" with DNN alias MyOtherDNNDomain.com and get the same page as the first portal rather than a new portal.

Help!

Forwarding will not work, all that does is redirect to the original alias.  You need to point them both to the same IP Address that the IIS website is listening on with DNS.

OK now my 2 portal URLs are now pointing to the same DNS servers as my primary hosting account. Supposedly could take 48 hours to update.

I could not put a subdir on the DNS servers so how am I supposed to make the portal  URLs go to the DNN subdir?

Thanks, Dave

I think the DNS servers got updated and now things are even worse. My title bar no longer shows the portal URL but rather now it shows the <MyHostingSiteUrl>/DNN instead.

Suggestions?

Thanks, Dave
