Hi - I'm sure I'm being stupid but I've read up and looked and can't see how to do this.  I want people to be able to reach a page within one of my portals using http://domainname/portal/pagename.  However when I try this as a web address I get "page cannot be found".  I've tried setting up a friendly url using */domainname/portal/pagename to be translated to every variety of the full address that I can think of.  What am I missing.  The default settings appear to be using a variety of wildcard entries and it would be useful to know what each one means.

Many thanks for any help

any URL of the form "http://domainname/portal/pagename" needs an alias folder, as friendly urls can only handle .aspx pages and you need a folder pagename, where a default.aspx reside, redirecting to the portal root with the appropriate parameters. create an additional portal with the appropriate alias an identify, hot the redirect is handled.

Thanks - I realised last night that I needed to do this - and this morning I tried.  I've deleted the redirect rule and http alias which I'd tried on the relevant portal.  However whenever I try to do this I get a "page cannot be found" message - which is exactly what I got before.

When I look at the portal list the new portal is there but there doesn't appear to be any way to reach it.  Could there be a time element - there hasn't been one with previous portal creation but this time I've had to delete friendly url and http aliases?

Your message suggests a new folder with a default.aspx file which redirects to the full address.  Should I be doing this in file manager?

Thanks again for your help - I really do appreciate it.

Jay
