How do I implement site access levels?

I want to assign content/page editor rights to certain users - so that when they log on (using their windows password) they are able to make changes to the site.

Do I set these up in Active Directory? If so, how do I go about this?

thanks.

you use the AD for getting the logon and role assignment, but you need to grant the necessary permissions per page in DotNetNuke page settings.

Thanks.

Is there any documentation or instructions on this anywhere? I have not used active directory before and don't really know where to start.

It's very easy. You must create every role you want to sync (like "Administrators") in your Active Directory and if the role doesn't already exist you must create role in your DNN too.

The user in you AD must have the role you want to sync.

For example, i want a few user to be administrators. So I created the role "Administrators" in my Active Directory. The role already exists in DNN (the normal admin role). Then I made the few users members of the role in the AD.
After the next login, the user is automatically administrator.

I used the AD Fix from http://www.getyourowntots.com and http://dnn.gmss.org
