I would like to know if there is a way of fixing this quickly. The same thing is happening with me. I host a Win2003 server with DNN4. Using the Newsletter module has always stripped out the domain name. Maybe a change to the web.config could do it?

This is terrible! It strips out all 'domain' prefixes to HREF parameters. Links to web sites, links to images, etc etc.

I can't find any way to get this to work! Anyone have any ideas?

This seriously cripples the invaluable newsletter feature in DNN.

Anyone?

I know about this issue, I solve it by using an alternative domain pointing to, where the images reside.

Maybe I don't understand what you mean, but it strips out alternative domains for me also. It strips any http://www.domain.com form all HREF parameters.

If you still get this to work with the latest DNN version, please let me know exactly how you are achieving this.

Thanks

Yes it is terrible - and extremely frustrating - and you are correct - putting in another domain strips it out as I had already tried what Sebastian said much earlier on as I use the newsletter sending for sites, and was going to do an 'article' on my skincovered site on how to create and send cool newsletters, but no point if the system fails you!!  I am pretty sure you can put in an image as a 'background' image and I think it might hold on but after spending hours and hours on trying to work around it - I swapped out the editor to the FCKEditor and it helped.  It's available for download HERE.

I remember that there were some quicks but I couldn't be bothered setting everything as a background image.. It does strip every link out and has done so for several versions of DNN, but I guess it's not a 'priority' at the moment, so the best work around is install the FCKEditor - which is very easy, using FTP, a change in your web.config and .. voila.. something that works.

The latest one I remember I have working is on a 3.3.4 build of DNN (but don't go there - just change editor)

I hope that helps and like you and thousands of others I'm sure - have spent countless hours thinking I was doing something wrong.  I can assure you - it's not you!

Hi Nina,

So - if I read your correctly, the problem lies in the DNN default editor and can be corrected by getting another editor for DNN. Is that what you are saying?

Where do I get this other editor? Does it come with instructions on what to change in your web.config file?

Thanks
