I am new with this FCKeditor and I've installed the latest version on DNN 4.4. I need some advice on how I can set the styles in the editor to be the same as skin.css for the portal throughout.

you need not to adopt the styles settings (they determine, how the list of available styles in the toolbar is populated), but the content area css. Select dynamic and save for the whole portal. done.

Could you try that again with a few more words?  I want to know the same thing but I did not understand anything you said except use dynamic.

ok, I will try:

to make FCKEditor a true WYSIWYG editor you need to click "Show custom Editor options" and open section "Editor area CSS". Change Generator mode to dynamic and save the settings for whole portal. Done.

thank you so much.  That was the most useful post I have ever read on this forum.
It solved a problem I've been wrestling with for a couple of months.
