has anyone gone from 4.3.5 -> 4.4.1?  I need to upgrade my site as well, but I'm a bit concerned with the potential risks...

Mitchel, you should be able to upgrade from 4.3.5 to 4.4.1 without m/any issues. If you're really concerned about it though, do it in a test environment first and make sure your custom modules still work.

Yeah, I think I am going to get my hosting provider to send me a database backup so I can install it locally and test.

Do you by chance know of any good references on how I should go about setting up that type of an environment?  Where does DNN store the URL for the site?  As that will be different when I pull it down locally.

You'll need to modify the PortalAlias table to setup your local URL.

As for references for setting up your local environment, it's pretty close across platforms, but there are different permissions settings if you're using Win2k/XP vs win2k3.

Check out my blog on the blogs link at the top of this page, for a recent posting with instructions on upgrade/installation. (at least I think I made a posting about that :)
