See this thread for information on how to update httpcompression settings and whitespacefilter from the host | sql area if you don't use a different client tool to access the database.

I have gone back to 4.3.7 and though the speed is not what it is in 4.4.1 so far it seems much more stable. Hopefully, there will be an identification of the causes of these problems in a future 4.4.x release, and when they are fixed, I'll be eager to upgrade! But cautious ... :)

I am having the same problem and I am using 4.4.1 version too , do you think going back to 4.3.7 would solve the problem , is it going to be a 4.4.2 soon Thank you

I wouldn't presume to make a recommendation, but I have been banging away at 4.3.7 for a few days without the problems I was having in 4.4.1 - so it was a good move for me.

As far as future versions of DNN, so far I haven't heard anything that indicates that these problems are recognized or addressed.

As an interesting aside, I do have a 4.4.1 install out there which was an update from 4.3.6. The installation I was having fits with was a straight install of 4.4.1. The upgrade seems much less problem-plagued than the virgin install was.

Sometimes I am tempted to upgrade my current 4.3.7 which is working just fine to 4.4.1 ... maybe it is the install that package is flaky and the upgrade is more stable because the initial install had something it needs.

But then I decide not. ;)

And ... looks like the next version will be 4.5, soonish, as per recent communication:

A Release Candidate (RC) build of DotNetNuke 4.5 will be released to Platinum Benefactors on March 1st with an expected public release date of March 15th (during the Microsoft Global MVP Summit.)

I have modified my compression to GZip few days ago and seems to be ok. I cross fingers.... The problem have disappeared for the moment... That's very strange, sometimes it works, sometimes I have plenty of errors.

In parralel, I have asked my provider to have a look to the database, for me it was like a problem of connection. He said everything was ok, but since then, it works...

I have updated the whitespace setting in host settings to 'N' and the httpcompression setting to 0 and commented out the httpcompression section of the web.config, but I still get the following when trying to access the Host Settings page:

Error: Host Settings is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Host.HostSettingsModule.BindData() at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Host.HostSettingsModule.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Any ideas on a solution?
