I'm installing 4.0.2 using the Install package, these are the steps i made:

1- Extracted files to c:\website
2- Added Write Permissions to ASP.NET for c:\Website folder
3- Renamed release.config to web.config
4- Copied SiteUrls.config from c:\website\config to c:\website
5- Commented out SiteSqlServer 2005 connectionstring because i'm using SQL Server 2000
6- Correctly configured ConnectionString for SiteSQLServer 2000/2005
7- Commented out siteSqlServer appsettings key, and correctly configured sitesqlserver appsettings key 2000 for legacy support.
8- Opened IIS
9- Created new virtual Directory under Default Web Site which i named CCPV (for whatever reason)
10- Went into properties on this Virtual Directory made sure the IUser was ASP.NET and that ASP.NET Version used was 2.0, then, clicked Okay.
11- Opened Internet Explorer (Also tried with Firefox ) :)
12- Browsed to localhost/website

i get:

DotNetNuke Upgrade Error

The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

The stored procedure 'dbo.GetPortalAliasByPortalID' doesn't exist.

Did i miss something?
Do i have to configure the Database Manually? from what i understood from the manual guide it is done automatically.

Any help will be greatly compensated with Thanks ;).
seriously, any help would be appreciated.

My guess is the SQL Server User (defined in the connection string) is not configured correctly in SQL Server to have dbowner access.

Hi,

I have exact same problem. I am using Windows 2003 and VS.Net 2005 and SQL 2005 standard edition.

I am sure that I have granted dboowner access to user I created for DNN database. I even use "sa" user account in the connect string, but I still got errors.

Did you find a solution for this problem? Anyone can help me?

Gary

I am also having the same problem, using DNN 4.0.2 on IIS 5.1 and SQL 2005 Express Edition.  I am using the Install package download.  I have configured the ASPNET account to be part of the db_owner role and use the database as the default database.  I receive that the login failed for the user.  I even created a SQL User and made it the default db and part of the db_owner role and I received the same.

I have also tried using the VS starter kit install and it worked fine using Visual Studio 2005 through the webserver it starts.

Any help would be appreciated.
