If the files are still there (Signin.ascx, Signin.ascx.vb, Signin.ascx.resx) and I'm bettting they are, your best bet is to just create a new module by hand. It's not as hard as it sounds.

Host -> Modules Definitions

  1. Click "Create New Module"
  2. For Module Name, Folder Name, Friendly Name, enter "Account Login".
  3. For Description, enter "Allows users to login to the portal."
  4. For Version, enter "01.00.00"
  5. Click "Create".
  6. Now, In the New Definition textbox, type "Account Login" and click Add Definition
  7. Click "Add Control"
  8. For Title, enter "Account Login"
  9. For Source, put (under the drop box) "Admin/Security/Signin.ascx"
  10. For Type, select "Anonymous"
  11. Click "Update"

That should do it. Try to add the module to a page and log in. What you've done is replicate the exact values that the default account login module comes installed with.

Note: While testing, uninstalling the original module and checking "Delete files" did NOT delete the files. If they did happen to get deleted, post back and I'll whip up a PA that has the files in it.

Dnninstalled,

Your method worked perfectly. It is new knowledge to me because I haven't made a PA myself yet (fairly new at dnn).
Thanks for the fix. And, for people using DNN4.53, this thread explains how to view the module with administrator rights: http://www.snapsis.com//tabid/560/forumid/15/postid/5949/view/topic/Post.aspx  (as pointed out earlier by John Mitchell).

Cheers, Willem

UPDATE:

the aforementioned issue vanished as suddenly as it appeared on Ihost. Although that lends creedence to the WADE installation error theory, I'll admit i don't have the time to investigate for the moment. I appreciate everyones help though!
