Carlos,

I left the sql express statements alone in my web.config file and I received this error message:

Parser Error Message: The configuration section cannot contain a CDATA or text element.

Source Error:

Line 30:   <appSettings>
Line 31: <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express - kept for backwards compatability - legacy modules -->
Line 32:     <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;"/>
Line 33:
Line 34:     -->

what do I need to change?

Mary

I'm getting this problem too trying to do a clean install on my WebHost4Life account. The DB server is SQL Server 2000 and it can connect to the DB in fact it creates a Version table and 3 stored procedures: FindDatabaseVersion, GetDatabaseVersion and UpdateDatabaseVersion.  I'm using the Version 4.07 Install of DNN.  I also tried it with the 4.06 install version and the same thing happened. Any ideas?

Ok, my original post hasn't even been approved yet but I managed to get it to install. I had to manually go in and delete the Table and 3 stored procs and then click next again and for some reason it worked.  Don't ask me why. :)

I too am receiving the same error when installing the database.  I have a blank database setup in SQL Server 2005.  I have changed the connection string in two places in the web.config file.  When I test the connection within the install wizard it connects perfectly but I when I proceed to the next screen I get this error:

Installing Database - Version 4.4.0...undefined...Success
Installation of Database Complete

 <add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=MYSERVER;Initial Catalog=MYDB;User ID=MYUID;Password=MYPWD" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

<add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Data Source=MYSERVER;Initial Catalog=MYDB;User ID=MYUID;Password=MYPWD" />

Any ideas or thoughts would be great!

OS=Server 2003 R2
SQL Server 2005
DNN 4.7.0

I did resolve my error.  This error was happening when I had the DNN framework installed on my local XP Pro machine and tried to install the database on another server.  When I installed the DNN Framework on our Server 2003 machine and installed it, I had no problems.

Also learned (I was a bit skeptical) this will run on a Virtual Machine without any problems.  My company purchased a new server with Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition on it and with the license you also receive the ability to install 4 VM's on it.  So for the purchase of one physical machine you get the usage of 5 servers!
