Okay, so I installed it from scratch on my webserver and after the installation process told me it was "successful" I click Next (Go to front page) and got this:

it seems to be related to the AD provider, did you configure it correctly?

I made a new website in IIS (6), moved the DotNetNuke files to the designated folder,
gave the website Read, Write, and Script Execution permissions, aswhile as I gave Network Service full permissions to the folder itself.

Something I probably should mention is that:

  • I have another DotNetNuke installation on another website within IIS, but its 3.x
  • I ran the custom installation (To get all modules without  the extra few clicks using Module Definitions would mean *doh*)

I took a look at the connection strings in web.config, it looked like the ordinary SQL server strings were commented out
while SQL server Express wasn't, which is odd since I didn't choose that during the installation process.
Of course I tried to reverse the comments but it didn't make much of a difference.

Oh and by the way, I didn't install Active Directory or the other "alternate" membership provider, didn't seem very necessary at the moment
