This seemed to almost work, but my localhost site is automatically redirecting back to my production site: www.woolridgeroad.org

I removed the aliases but can't seem to locate where this is happening?

Does anyone know if DNN would do this because of a configuration?  My host is WebSecureStores so I don't know if they've done something funny to the config.

Thanks,
Chris

The only time I see this behavior is when the old/unwanted alias is the first one listed in the database.  When DNN does the redirect it simply grabs the first alias.  Check your database and make sure you have the correct alias in the database and also verify the unwanted alias is not in the database.

Hi

We have embarked on a similar (but not the same) operation. We have created a site on a development server with a local copy of the database on  the same machine. We have now had to move the machine into the "live" environment as a temporary measure HOWEVER because the data in the database isn't being backed up we now have to move JUST THE DATABASE component to a proper database server.

We have notcied that in the database itself there are references to the server that the database is expecting to run upon, for example:

Portal AliasID Table

1 0 172.16.10.82:8082/NUKE745

We have loaded the database onto the database server and we can connect to the database thorugh the usual SQL. So we are now wondering whether there is a list of all of the database entries that do this OR if there is a Database migration script anywhere that we can use??

All help gratefully received on this one.

Actually, this is not a reference to a servername... but an application name (folder) within the root web located at 172.16.10.82:8082.

I can think of only two specific places where a server name might actually be referenced.  The first is in the scheduler, and then only if one was manually specified... but this is by design as it enables you to limit which machines execute certain processes at certain times.  The other might be in the module settings for the Repository module which allow you to specify "off web" storage, so may containe file-based references outside of the web root.  In general, module settings might be a place to check.

In general, DotNetNuke makes no specific references to one machine or another... merely a domain or IP address.
