connectionString="Server=SERVER1\SQLEXPRESS;Database=RIVERFRIENDSuid=dotnetnuke;pwd=dotnetnuke;"

providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

value="Server=SERVER1\SQLEXPRESS;Database=RIVERFRIENDS;uid=dotnetnuke;pwd=dotnetnuke;"

/>

So, after three weeks, I'm still no farther along that I was before. However I did discover that using the phrase "I can't log on" will get you the silent treatment faster that yelling Hi Jack! on a plane will get you shot.

Thanks
Joe

You're missing a ; between database and uid in the first connection string.

Did you manually update the portal alias in the DB prior to launching? Did you make sure that ASP.NET has permissions on the folder structure (Try and reset the permissions to make sure they ripple down, and if you're using IIS6, then it's a different 'user' that needs permissions.

Personally, have you thought about starting with a fresh install (completely), and getting the web.config to work, then copying that webconfig, updating it with the specifics of the old database/website, and trying that?

Rob,

Actually the missing semi colon is a typo in the post, I cut and pasted it incorrectly, the one on the server has a semicolon.

They are all fresh installs, the last two were even reinstalls of all the applications.

The folder permissions have ben set to carry down on all sub folders, the last step that I did before I checked to see if it will work.

The Alias was updated manually and verified to make sure that it was right. All services had been stopped and restarted and even a reboot to make sure everything was clean.

The last install, everything was working as advertised, before the import of the Live database.

Hi Joe,

It's late, so forgive my terse response.

Your call stack indicates that the Email field is not found in the database response returned to DNN.  Manually check to see that the Email field exists in the vw_Portals view.  If it's not there, does it exist on your live site database?  Are you by chance attempting to restore a pre-4.8.4 database onto a 4.8.4 installation?  This will cause myriad problems.

Since you probably have several layers of errors, we'll have to deal with them one at a time.  Let me know what you find with respect to my questions above and we can proceed accordingly.

I don't see a vw_Portals in my new database. I upgraded the live site to 4.8.4 then I exported the database and imported into the local 4.8.4 site. But there must be something wrong since that view and others are missing. Ideas?

Actually, the following are missing:

vw_FolderPermissions
vw_Lists
vw_ModulePermissions
vw_Modules
vw_Portals
vw_TabPermissions
vw_Tabs

This was from a fresh backup of the server and restore into the local. Hmmmm?
