So what happened to the default DotNetNuke skin?  That seems to be my problem ... there is really no skin.  I loaded a skin and the problem seems to be solved.  Now, I have to reload everything because the second skin I loaded casuses a Server Application Unavailable error ... and I have no idea how I would recover from having loaded a bad skin "XDNavMenu" ... which means that I'll have to make backup copies of the database "AND" the application directory before I try anthing I'm "NOT" 100% certain of.   *** SIGH ***
