I am getting this error after a fresh install of DNN4.9 on a GoDaddy Shared hosting account.  I am installing in the root folder.  DNN appears to be installed correctly but I cannot access the site or host settings, the follow error appears.

An error has occurred.

Same problem. I cancelled the account, then I recreated the account on another server and I have the same problem. Can someone please give us a clue of why this is happening, godaddy says it is not their problem, but you are the 5th person I have found in the last few weeks with the same problem.

UPDATE:

I did further testing. I get this error every time I try to access any edit function inside the admin or host accounts. Whenever I click on the pencil to edit anything inside any of the admin or host tabs I receive the same error. This also happens when I try to add a new item (user, vendor, module, etc) in the settings pages.

This seems to be a continuing problem with installs on GoDaddy shared hosting. You will need to create a support ticket to request that the ASP.NET worker process (Network Service account, etc.) be given FULL (read, write, create, modify) file permissions on all folders and subfolders of the site INCLUDING THE ROOT FOLDER.  I believe that while with your hosting control panel you are able to set permissions on folders and files, you are not able to do so without support assistance on the root folder.
