I am new to the world of DNN but will try to help.

It appears to be a permission issue, and would suggest that you look at the directory security on the above directory and see if the ASP.Net machine account has access to it.  At least that is what looks like it provides for mine in .Net 2.0.

For testing you could always grant everyone full access to that directory for temporary purposes and see if that fixes your error.  That will allow you to then start trouble shooting and seeing what the problem is.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, I also tried setting the permissions to "Full Control" as a test but still got the error.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

delete all the files in the specified asp.net directory, and try again

You need to give the "Network Service" Account Read/Write access to your DotNetNuke program files, full control would work as well.

I'm using IIS 5 on XP. So accordign to to the installation instructions I thought I was supposed to alter the "<My Computer name>\ASPNET"  account. That's the one I have given full control access to. Right?
