Thank you Mitch for your prompt answer. And yes, I have visited your site before and I found your installation guide very useful! Thank you for your contribution!

However, as I said in my previous post, I had already added the ASP.NET user with full control, and it didn't work.

After studying the behavior of this error I found a solution. It works, but I cannot tell how nor why nor what in earth is producing this error. Apparently the installation files remain locked for edition after unzipping, in a way they shouldn't.

The SOLUTION:

1. If the error exists, remove all the files and subdirs from inside the Dnn folder.
2. Ensure the folder is empty and has the proper permissions. The name of the folder is irrelevant.
3. Unzip the Dnn Install package to a Temp folder.
4. Copy or XCopy all the files from the Temp folder to the final Dnn folder (in my case: C:\Websites\Dnn480)

and that's it.

Note 1: This is not an issue with Dnn 4.8.0, I have checked with other versions and the error persists. It is most certainly an issue of WinXP.
Note 2: I have checked that the files are not "taken" by any other process (Indexing Service, Copernic, etc.).

If anyone knows the reason for this behavior, any line will be very welcome. It hasn't happened to me before and I have installed DNN more than 20 times.

Saludos!
Alejandro
