I suggest to clear your local browser cache, there might be an older version of the scripts kept.

Actually, I experienced the same error again this morning from work now too. It appears that the entire page doesn't want to load and I noticed, appended to the end of the URL, "object reference not an instance of an object".  What I did next was click on my "Home" button to go back to the home page, waited about a second, and then clicked on the "Login" link again, everything was fine, again.

Something loopy going on and it now appears to be intermitent...

I've experienced this error when I have an webservice ajax call that register a dnn namespace

It seems like the webservice registers the DotNetNuke namespace before the widgets does.

Anyways easy to fix in the initWidget.js, line 19 put this

if (typeof (DotNetNuke) === "undefined" || typeof (DotNetNuke.UI) === "undefined")

hope it helps

cheers
