Neither approach works for me - I just get a blank page when I try to run install.aspx - with or without mode =install

I wasn't saying install.aspx needed to be run at all, but asking if in DNN5.x if it should be as it is in DNN4.9.x.  If you get a blank page it indicates to me it probably isn't used in DNN5.x

AFAIK there are no changes to the install.aspx page in DNN 5 -besides the version number has been removed some versions ago for security reasons. Unfortunately I have no clue, what is going wrong in your install (though I confess, that I have made few experiences with DNN 5 yet due to affected localization support).

Y' know - I've been looing for this info for the past 2 days off-and-on.

Finally found it with google.

It really should not be too hard to include installation instructions in the upgrade .zip.
