I tried setting up the app pool for dnn 5 a couple of different ways. One I just left the defaults. So it's using the ApplicationPoolIdentity account. The other thing I tried was using the AD account for the App Pool Identity that is used for connecting to the UNC Share on the two web servers. Still did not work. I know that other folks have been able to get this to work, I'm just missing some sort of step that's an important piece of the puzzle. Any one else have suggestions?

Same here, i've tried using the same AD account that I use to connect to the UNC shares on the web servers as my Identity in the App Pool. No success. Must be some other step that I've missed. Is my problem more related to the caspol.exe command? I've ran the command under the Framework and Framework64 folders... Any other suggestions?

Okay folks, I made some progress! I can now run a different .net app that I couldn't before and I'm now getting a different error in DNN. First off I used the different caspol.exe command listed below on the Framework\v2.0.50727 and Framwork64\v2.0.50727 folders.

Command I used: caspol.exe -m -ag 1 -url "file:////\\computername\sharename\*" FullTrust -exclusive on

Here's the error in DNN:

Unauthorized Access Error

Error Details

File \\mbgcl02fs\webvol\web\DotNetNukeMain\Portals\_default\\Logs\LogFailures.xml.resources
Error   Access to the path '\\mbgcl02fs\webvol\web\DotNetNukeMain\Portals\_default\Logs\LogFailures.xml.resources' is denied. The Windows User Account listed below must have Read/Write Privileges to this path.

Funny thing is that it doesn't list any user account below. Any other ideas?

Hi,

I think you configured your instance for logging into xml files instead of database.

Your website probably wanted to log events in log file but it encountered permissions problem.
Have you kept AD Account to run Application Pool and has this account full access to entire directory of DotNetNuke installation ?

I currently have the App Pool for DNN set to the AD account that is being used for the UNC share access on the web server. The AD account has Modify permissions, should this be changed to Full Control? Are there any other setting I may be missing?
