The key to those errors is not to install DNN under anything, install it in it's own folder away from other sites and point the site in IIS at the new folder location where you unzipped the DNN install package.  Npo inheritance if there's nothing above it.

 Hi Jeff,
My server configured exactly as you described
 dnn websites under
c:\dnnwebsites
virtual web app under
c:\virtualWebapps\
but I still got the same error ... :(

Is there a reason you can't upgrade to 3.5?  All 2.x apps will run fine under 3.5 since it's the same framework, just with add-ons.  Also, can you run DNN in a separate app pool?
