Comme on, guys !

There are two possibilities:

1.       My english is so bad that you did not understand what I said

2.       You have read the description of the issue so quickly that you have missed something

Let me explain in another way.

Windows Web Server 2008, IIS7

Application Pool settings: Enable 32-bit Application=yes,  Identity=NetworkService

NetworkService has Modify, Read & execute, List folder contents, Read, Write permissions on the root folder of the web site.

I execute two installation procedures (same web site, same app poll, the only thing I change is .Net Framework version.

FIRST INSTALLATION

a)      Under IIS Manager, in App Pool Advanced Settings, I set .Net Framework version to v4.0

b)      I unzip DNN 5.4.2 Install package into the root folder of my web site

c)       Navigate to my web site using IE8

d)      My site passes the permissions check done by DNN Installation Wizard

In order to keep two installation procedures exactly the same, I delete all files in the root directory of my website before the second installation.

SECOND INSTALLATION

a)      Under IIS Manager, in App Pool Advanced Settings, I change .Net Framework version from v4.0 to v2.0

b)      I unzip DNN 5.4.2 Install package into the root folder of my web site

c)       I navigate to my web site using IE8

d)      I get DNN configuration error (permissions check fails)

Best Regards,

Maciej

Please be aware that DNN 5.2 and above require ASP.Net 3.5 SP1, while DNN 5.4.0 support running on ASP.Net 4.0 as well. Make sure to meet this requirements. If you still encounter issues, please provide details of the error, unfortunately we don't have clairvoyants in our team.

ASP.NET 3.5 SP1 is installed.

I found that it is clearly something to do with the Trust Level.

The server is configured in locked down Medium Trust (alowOverride = false).

When I add in the machine level (\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\CONFIG\) web.config:

                <location path="MySite" allowOverride="true">

                               <system.web>

                                               <trust level="Full" originUrl="" />

                               </system.web>

                </location>

I have no longer problem with the permissions check (DNN 5.4.0 under v2.0 framework).

Does it mean that DNN 5.4.2 IS NOT ABLE TO RUN in Medium Trust under v2.0 Framework ???
Is it stated somewhere in the requirements ???

Regards,

Maciej

Should I have a look  into your source code myself in order to determine why DNN 5.4.2 is not able to run in Medium Trust under v2.0 framework (including 3.5 SP1) on Windows 2008 server ???
Or should I pay 50000 $ for professional version ???

BR,
Maciej

Well, for $50,000 you would have plenty of licenses to use Pro in multiple places. However, I assume your Trust issues would persist because they likely have more to do with your setup than they do the application. I have a DotNetNuke CE 5.2 running under Medium Trust and it is also on a Windows 2008 server (and using 3.5 w/ SP 1). Did you install any modules besides those distributed with the CE download?
