I am working on a DNN migration myself. I have created other databases using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express, and I can see those databases in that program. However, I cannot see my DNN database to back it up and restore it. What do I need to do to simply see it or is there another program I should be using to back it up?

Bill, thank you very much for your in-depth account. I'm trying to move my site to GoDaddy and basically used the same steps as you did.
However, when i try to sync my site using Database Publishing Wizard i get the following error on the drop table step:

Database Publishing Progress

- Gathering list of objects to script (Success)

- Connecting to web service (Success)

- Scripting objects (Success)

- Dropping table dbo.aspnet_Users (Error)
    Messages
    * An error occured while trying to publish the following script:
    /****** Object:  Table [dbo].[aspnet_Users]    Script Date: 02/14/2011 09:43:22 ******/
    IF  EXISTS (SELECT * FROM sys.objects WHERE object_id = OBJECT_ID(N'[dbo].[aspnet_Users]') AND type in (N'U'))
    DROP TABLE [dbo].[aspnet_Users]
     (SqlPubWiz)

    ------------------------------
    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

 because it is referenced by a FOREIGN KEY constraint. (System.Web.Services)

I tried to un-select USER objects when importing but that does not seem to help. i also tried to use a SQL query to drop all FK constrains and ended up with the same eroneuos result.

Any advice?
