Glad you got it working. I'm a little "old school" and usually install the packages directly. Skinning is very powerful but can be complex and a little strange to designers new to DNN. There are plenty of resources available here and in blogs.

Good luck with your project and keep us posted.

To be honest - ive never been really sure if webmatrix is a good thing for dnn or not - sure it lets a certain sort of system setup get up and running - but really it seems to be the source or a whole lot of problems down the track.

The best approach is the simplest - download the install.zip file for the latest version - and follow the manual steps.  
Great to hear you got things sorted out and are underway.

IMHO the easiest option for installing DNN is using Microsoft Web Platform installer (available at www.microsoft.com/web)
