I host several sites on godaddy all using DNN. I upgraded one site manually to 6.0 with no problems. I decided to use the automatic upgrade through the godaddy interface on the others. In EVERY case, i can no longer access the sites as admin/host. They come up fine publicly (not logged in). This is the message I am getting on all other sites:

An error has occurred.DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.UI.Containers.ActionButtonList.get_ModuleActions() at DotNetNuke.UI.Containers.ActionButtonList.OnLoad(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.LoadRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Two of these sites are production business sites that need some updates made to them. Any assistance or guidance would greatly be appreciated. I have searched everywhere and seen this error message in a few posts; but nobody has found a solution. Again, I can do NOTHING as a logged in host. I can't get past this message.

Have you seen posts that describe similar behavior due to skins and/or containers that exist in both the _default portal and in any other portal that have the same name?

Fixed in the future DNN 6.0.1 but in DNN 6 you have to fix manually by changing names so they are unique.

This might be your problem.

Additionally, turning off whitespace filter will correct some other similar problems.

James;
During development and testing of 6.0 we ran into the specific error message you report on 5 separate occasions:

An error has occurred.DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.UI.Containers.ActionButtonList.get_ModuleActions() at DotNetNuke.UI.Containers.ActionButtonList.OnLoad(EventArgs e)

We were only ever reproduce 1 of our 5 reported issues and we fixed that specific condition

Did you edit a portal or turn off pop ups?
Either of these 2 actions created this error in 3 of the 5 bug reports we have logged on this for 6.0

Thanks,

 Michael,
Each of my installations is independent of the other and therefore all are using only one portal "0". All of the skins are installed on the _default portal and all are uniquely named.

The whitespace filter was (and is currently) turned off.

Thanks,

 Ken,

I have done nothing to any of the portals since the upgrade. What is strange is that if an anonymous user navigates to any of the sites (not logged in) the site performs perfectly. Once you log in, you're done. You see the message and can't get to any content, Admin, or Host pages; nada.

Thank you for your response though.
