While on the subject of strange message ordering, I have always found it very annoying that when you come to the forums without logging in you get the list of posts ordered old to new, but when you login they are displayed new to old.

In my opinion they should always be ordered with the newest on top going backwards, but that is just me.  Or, do it one way consistently, or even better, let me choose.

Your idea of giving a different host name is exactly what I want to do.  I want to create one called parent1.mydomain.com and when people type that in as the url, I want to redirected to a the new parent portal instead of the main one at mydomain.com.  I'm just not sure what I need to do on setting up my GoDaddy configurations to enable this.  Any suggestions would help.  Thank you.

Adrian

Hi Adrian,

Hopefully you can get GoDaddy to allow all host names for your domain to go to your IIS website.  If not, then you will probably need to upgrade your account so that you can, or find a different host that will allow that.

After you get all host names pointing to your website, then all you need to do is add new Parent Portals when you log in as Host.

Sorry to ask dumb questions, I'm still a little lost.  I can set up a sub-domain on GoDaddy using the following procedure: http://help.godaddy.com/article.php?article_id=297

One of their steps says:

From the Path drop-down list, select the existing content directory to which the sub domain will point or type a new content directory that does not appear in the list.

Do I just put the content directory as my main directory that my DNN web.config file sits in?  Bascially I'm think I must create a sub-domain called parent1.mydomain.com on GoDaddy and then have it point to my main site.  Then create a parent portal in DNN with the same name as my new sub-domain.  People typing in the sub-domain should get to new portal.  Correct or am I all off?  Thanks again.

Everything you describe sounds right to me.
