Ken,

That video is exactly what I used. That works fine. It's after I publish to my server that all my problems start. I have webmatrix installed on the same server as my IIS webserver and SQLEXPRESS. I guess it's possible that this configuration doesn't work.  I'm going to go through all the file permissions to see if I can find something there. Is it ok to have webmatrix on the same server that I'm publising my website to?

Somehow I posted the resolution to this in another post, I'm sorry about that, here it is:This fixed some issues so I can select auto install: I'm on to the next issue already. http://support.webecs.com/KB/a375/how-do-i-configure-sql-server-express-to-allow-remote.aspx Now, for my next problem. I've got the default site up that was created in Webmatrix. Everything works fine, until I try to login. Both Host and Admin fail. I've tried them with all the different possibilites of capitals and lower case Admin dnnadmin, Admin Dnnadmin, Admin DnnAdmin etc. Any idea why these users are not working. How long to the problems continue? I keep thinking I'm almost there, then another issue comes up.

A server reboot does wonders working with this. While installing and getting that install loop, I bombed out and rebooted the server. The default site then worked fine.

Now, I need to develop an operational process for using Webmatrix and dotnetnuke on Windows Server 2008 R2 and SQLEXPRESS 2008.

Does anybody have an operational process they use. Like never use webmatrix again, after getting it to install on the server? Or a solid process to keep everything up to date on both systems?

you don't need web matrix after install, unless for editing Razor scripts, if you like to use it.
