I know I had to download the upgrade for AF after I upgraded to 4.3.7. The upgrade was for DNN 4.3.5 and above. I think the current version of AF I installed is 3.6.10, but I know you needed at least 3.6.9. There was no problems installing it after the upgrade and AF worked normally. This wasn't my problem though, because when I upgraded to 4.4, I didn't have to upgrade AF.

Thanks alot for your reply stubs, so when you upgraded from 4.0.x to 4.3.7 did you do a clean install of DNN 4.3.7? or did you just copy the files on top of your previous 4.0.x installation?

The website upgrade was just a regular DNN upgrade like any other. The forums didn't work, but I could see the website. Then I just added the AF upgrade like installing any other module and everything worked perfectly. All of the posts and settings were retained and I didn't have to do anything special.

How I wish there was a consistent guide somewhere on how to upgrade DNN.

Hi,

I am upgrading from 4.02 to 4.4. After downloading the 4.4 package, I can see there are bin and provider folders. It says in every dnn guide that one should copy all the folders and files (except the web.config) and over write the existing folders. Surely that will get rid of my existing modules in the existing bin and provider folders.

Thanks

Drew

As long as you don't delete the files that are in those folders, you will just be copying the files OVER the ones that already exist (with the same names). The rest of the files should remain intact. Unless you have customized these files yourself (unlikely) there should be no need to worry. Always remember to backup, backup, backup. I learned the hard way. "The best laid plans of mice and men often go astray" or something like that, lol.
