How does one upgrade to dnn 6.2.1 from 6.2.0?

these instructions from the 6.2.1 manual do not work:

1. Create a backup of your database and files.

2. Unzip the DotNetNuke upgrade file that will be named something similar to "DotNetNuke_Community_6.2.1_Upgrade.zip"

3. Copy the unzipped files on to your web server.

4. Navigate to the home page of your site. This will trigger the upgrade process and display the DotNetNuke Upgrade Page.

5. At Choose Your Language, select the language for the installer. English, Italian, French, German, Spanish and Dutch languages are available. The installer will default to the language set on your website browser, or English if no other languages is selected.

6. In the Host (SuperUser) Username text box, enter the username of the host account.

7. In the Password text box, enter the password for the host account.

i'll be damned if i copy 2699 files to the root of my website to perform an upgrade. these instructions do not work. , specifically navigating to the home page (logged in as host) does not trigger anything but frustration. i am using the unmodified 6.2.0 installation as my base.

It's possible that the upgrade was triggered by someone else navigating to your site, check the host settings to see what version is stated.

However, if you have autoupgrade set to false in the webconfig file, then you need to add /install/install.aspx?mode=install after your domain name in your browser address bar to trigger the upgrade.

I have never encountered steps 5, 6 & 7 during an upgrade, so don't know where they come from.

Hope that helps!

no, i am not trying to install. i already did that. that is why i am trying to upgrade.

there is an upgrade mode, and browsing and submitting that page does not trigger the upgrade.

and since the web page is on my laptop, i doubt that anyone has browsed it especially since the application is reporting 6.2.0 as the installed version.

Well, all I can say is that's the way I have upgraded three DNN installs numerous times over the last three years and just recently upgraded all three installs from DNN 6.2.0 to 6.2.1 using /install/install.aspx?mode=install

I've never had to manually change the querystring. Just overwrite the files and hit the home page and the upgrade wizard starts.

What happens when you try to upgrade using the steps 1 through 4? Can you give us some more details?
