The reason why I am considering running DNN as a child application of the root application is to simplify the process of dynamically creating and destroying (customized) demo applications using popular open source software, including DNN. But this issue is secondary to the main issue of this thread, which is: how should I enable DNN 6.2.2 to run on the .NET Framework 4.0.

Should I simply open the DNN Install Package website in Visual Studio 2010 and allow the Visual Studio Conversion Wizard to update the website to the .NET Framework 4.0? Or, is there more to it?

Hi at all,

I need to run a fresh installation of DNN 6.2.2 on ASP.NET 4.0, what I do to use ASP.NET 4 AppPool?

And, if I develop modules with a DNN 6.2.2 in ASP.NET 2, can I upload it on a DNN 6.2.2 with ASP.NET 4?

Thanks,

Simone

the difference between DNN 6 running in ASP.Net 3.5 (displayed as ASP.Net 2.0 in app pool ddl) and ASP.net 4.0 is just a different structure and content of web.config. you may upgrade an existing DNN app from using 3.5 to 4.0 by simply switching version prior to a DNN upgrade or by running the appropriate merge script in configuration manager.

PS: all module packages created for 3.5 I know of are running on ASP.Net 4.0 as well.
Compatibility of DNN with ASP.Net 4.0 will be included in DNN 7 later this year.

Hi,

thanks for reply quickly.

My question is only one, I develop some application using EF 4, and I want to create a modules for dnn, but I use ASP.NET 4.0 and DNN use ASP.NET 2.0 ... then I must confused if a module developed with framework 4.0 can work well in an instance of DNN 6 with apppool 2.0.

Thanks,

Simone
