Hello all,

I'm trying to do a fresh installation of DNN 5.6.8 to Windows 7. I have attempted to do the installation manually (as opposed to using the Microsoft web installer -- sorry if I didn't get the name right.) However, when I try to bring up the DNN installation screen to begin the setup, I get a server error 500.19 - "Internal Server Error; The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid."

My application pool has been granted the necessary permissions. I did have DNN6 and DNN7 installed as well, previously, but the first time I got this error I deleted those installations; now it's just 5, and the error persists. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I wouldn't bother with any version per-6.x. It's just too old.

Attempt to install 7.0.3 if your PC meets the minimum requirements. If not, use the last 6.2.x release and post any issues you have and we'll see if we can help.

I hear you, Mark; normally I wouldn't be dealing with 5 either. Unfortunately it's the version my client's site is hosted on, and they don't have the budget to have their site rebuilt for a newer version of DNN right now. It's a case of needs must when the Devil drives.

OKay, for giggles, and because I really need help getting this worked out one way or another, I tried to reinstall version 6.2.6. Once again, manual installation, my application pool has all the necessary permissions, but I still get the error 500.19.

Here's some stuff from the error screen that I think might be important. Now that I've shown this isn't just DNN5, does anyone have any ideas?

Module IIS Web Core
Notification BeginRequest
Handler Not yet determined
Error Code 0x800700b7
Config Error Cannot add duplicate collection entry of type 'add' with unique key attribute 'name' set to 'UrlRoutingHandler'
Config File

Okay, a 500.19 is a really common error and basically means the ASP.NET conifg has a problem. Not much help there.

The config error is the key in this. What the error means is you have a duplicate config file with UrlRoutingHandler already specified. This is common if you are adding DNN as an application to an existing site which already has a web.config at the site level, and if you have an applicationHost.config file with it set for the server.

The fix can be easy. Look in other config files, at the site root or applicationHost.config for a line that contains:

add name="UrlRoutingHandler"

Comment it out or delete it in the other files (or in the DNN web.config if it's more appropriate).

Best guess is that it's in applicationHost.config, but you'll need to look.

Jeff
