I just registered a hosting service from www.amhosting.com and they said that the Server support MySQL and .Net 3.0 only while the site I am installing is DNN 7 which is running with MSSQL and .Net 4.0.

So what is the solution for this case? Could I run DNN 7 in .net 3.0 environment? or should I downgrade the DNN to lower version that is able to run in .net 3.0? How to configure the DNN site to run with MySQL?

Thanks a lot. Cheers, Timmy

Hi Timmy, AM Hosting offer both Linux and Windows (including DNN) hosting, so they will (should) have MS SQL databases and the appropriate .net framework to run DNN. Did you perhaps register for Linux hosting instead of Windows? These are the requirements for both DNN 5/6 and DNN 7 http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/D...

I did register for "Windows starter plan"  and following the dialogue that I have with their support team (and It took me almost 24 hours for each shortly reply), It is unbelievable that they are referred by www.dnncreative.com as a professional DNN hosting???

Me: Hi, I am quite New to DotNetNuke. I have created my DNN site on my PC.
Could you please show me how to make it run on this server.

AMhosting: Hello Tim, You can use FTP or the file manager in your account manager to upload all of the content, and you can setup a database within your Account Manager. The server currently does not have MSSQL so you will need to setup DNN with MySQL, the server is also running ASP.NET 3.0.

Me: Currently I am using DNN version 7.006 that only runs on .Net 4.0. Could you please tell me what version of DNN can run on .Net 3.0 environment that your server support?

AMhosting: I am not sure if there is a version of DNN for ASP.NET 3.0 still available, but I'd recommend looking on their website or through their support forums.

???

Minimum requements for DNN 7.x are Windows Server 2008 R2/2012 with .NET 4.0 or higher installed and a MS-SQL Server 2008 or higher!

It could not be installed on My-SQL and on .NET 3.0!

Hi Timmy, well, they advertise themselves as DNN hosts (http://www.amhosting.com/apps/dotnetn...) but, in reality, they are not if they cannot provide the correct environment. You need to find a host that can provide the correct environment..
