Publishing the website is when i finish working on Source solution in VS , i right cick on the web site there is build option and publish option.

The publish option results with a complied version ( dll ) of the website rather than viewing (fiename.asc.cs).

BTW what is the most recommended way to bulid a compile version from the source solution ?

what is the Default way recommended by DNN Team to publish a website ?

DNN is a content management system. Website pages are stored in the database. It's not intended to add pages to it in Visual Studio, it's not normal to build the source code yourself unless you are making a core modification.

I think you did not get what i mean.

for example,  i have dowloaded source package and finished developing my website.

When i want to install the website live, i should place all source code ??

Please note that i know that the pages are stored in the database, it was not the main idea from my question.

DNN does not need to copy source code for compiled classes on the web server, i.e. you just need to publish website folder.
DNN source is not intended to be used in production, just if you want to modify the framework, e.g. for fixing bugs.

I agree with Sebastian. If you are just creating a web site you should NOT use the source package.

If you are writing new modules - you don't need the source package

You only need the source package if you want to study DNN to see how it works, or because you plan to fix bugs or modify the core code. Modifying the core is NOT recommended.
