Just in case anyone else reads this thread? I have to take back my criticism of DNN being a bit more difficult to install for 7.0. a

I traced my problems down to not having dot net 3.5 and 4.5 properly linked to IIS on the brand new VMs I was building. I went in to server manager and added ever service I could find for IIS and dot net features. By adding all these services the dot net 3.5 and 4.5 were properly added. Then the installs went fine.

So I should admit my mistake and not criticse DNN where I made the mistake! Sorry guys!

Best Regards

Peter

The easiest way to fix this issue is to:

1. Open a command prompt
2. Change directory to your .NET Framework folder. Mine, on Win 7 is: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\
3. Type: "aspnet_regiss -ir"

You will have to reboot, but this will properly register IIS and ASP.NET etc...

I had this exact problem. As some of the other responders have stated it seems to have stemmed from have installed things in the wrong order, but rather than the arduous solution of removeing and re-installing 2 .Net framesworks I simply ran the following configuration command line:-

C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319>aspnet_regiis.exe -i

NB: I had opened up the comman line in "Run as Administrator" mode first, which may not be necessary but I suspect is!
