do you still get the same version number at the bottom: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:4.0.30319 ?

if you still get .Net version 4.0 displayed, you didn't register correct version of ASP.NET

According to this blog https://weblog.west-wind.com/posts/20... 

the .net framework version 4.0.30319 is actually 4.5.1. 

 Also my system.dll properties show build number greater than 17000 as suggested by blog above. Build number is 18408.

oops, you are correct. Did you install DNN in a subfolder of the IIS website?
I usually prefer installing it in the root folder - no application required.
The application pool needs to run in integrated mode.
