Ok well now that that issue was sorted (though seems like a bug in the base files since it shouldn't have had an error about SQL connecting before it was configured.)
I'm now getting another error
I loaded the blog module
https://dnnblog.codeplex.com/releases...Then DNN said there was an update, I followed the link and updated to the latest ver of the blog module.
I then edited the main page on the DNN app by removing the stock modules and adding the blog module, if I click on the manage button (only visible when I'm logged in) I get the following.
