Alternatively, is there a way to install some of these modules manually? Like Recycle Bin, Tabs and Log Viewer.

After a little research I found on the 8.0.0 release page ( http://dotnetnuke.codeplex.com/releas... )  that PokerDIY reviewed it and had a very similar error result with upgrade (  http://screencast.com/t/H3V6PldhsP ).

In the "Additional Changes" section of the page, the third point says:

  • Extracted all administration modules from the base platform so they can be installed/uninstalled separately

That implies that these modules that failed the upgrade can be installed separately. Does anyone know where the install packages for them are located?

install packages for all modules are located in /install/module folder.

Thanks to Sebastian I found the missing modules. When I went to install them, I noticed that they were already installed. What was missing were the pages that they used to be installed on. So I am adding each page in the Admin section and adding the appropriate module onto that page.

In the Admin menu control bar, there are three groups:  Common, Advanced and Bookmarked. All my new pages in the Admin menu are appearing in the Advanced section of the control bar.

How can I designate that a page should be in the Common section of the Admin menu?

to put items in the default section, they need to have the exact same name as in DNN default install (names are hard-coded in the control panel).
