Hi all,

I get the following when trying to install DNN for the first time:

ERROR: Your database user does not have sufficient permissions (dbo) to install

The odd thing? I do indeed have permissions. I went back into the database and checked to ensure that the Dbo database role is assigned to the user, which it is. What else am I missing that's completely obvious here? Database and web server are the same machine ... for now. Running Windows server 2012 R2, SQL Server 2014 express, named instance.

are you using a dedicated user in your database connection string or integrated security?

Dedicated user ... or ... at least I think I am. In order to get the user created, I created a custom login, and then used user mapping to map it to the corresponding database, then in turn, I made the user database owner. I somehow, not sure how, on the properties of the login, found the list of database roles, and was able to check d               atabase owner, however, was never able to find that screen again after that (though when I went back and checked role membership, literally every single role was checked on the database for that particular site).

...and your connection string, in web config, confusingly in *two* places, names the userid and the password for that account.

AND routes you to the correct db on the correct instance name on the correct server?

Somthing like this:

Server=myServerAddress;Database=myDataBase;User Id=myUsername;Password=myPassword;

Best wishes,

please make sure, you are checking the uncommented entries in web.config, if you are using a plain text editor like notepad.exe, it is sometimes hard to identify the commented lines.
